Well, hello there, blogosphere. My name is Amanda Klitsch, and I’m a senior at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. I was born and raised in the coal country of Pennsylvania. If you asked me four years ago what I wanted to do after college, the answer would have been to pursue a career as a photographer. I lived behind a camera most of high school, but after a chat with photographer Harry Benson and a sorority position later, here I am.
Mr. Benson basically made me realize that I didn’t need a degree in photo to do what I loved, but my mom wasn’t about to let me drop out of school. I ended up in public relations instead. I wasn’t sure whether it was really for me or not until I took a tactics course that required event planning. Let’s just say I was in my zone. The next semester, a sorority sister gave me the job of the preference party chair for recruitment. OK, non-Greeks I know what you’re thinking. That isn’t a big deal, right? Wrong. For Greeks, recruitment is huge, so this position was huge. I took off crafting and planning and knew then and there this is what I want to do.
I hope that I can be of help to novice event planners because I’m not going to lie I’m one myself. We’re learning together. I’ve got a knack for putting the pieces of a party together and a public relations background to make it all work.
Now that you know all about the professional me, let’s get a little personal. I’m a proud Chi Omega, Anderson Cooper’s biggest fan, obsessed with the Philadelphia Phillies, a cynic when it comes to love, but can’t get enough of Say Yes to The Dress. Want to know more?
